The mission of the Master of Public Health (MPH) program is to enhance the quality of human health status and public health practice through community-based health promotion and education initiatives, workforce development, and scholarly activities that are responsive to the behavioral, ecological and dynamic determinants of health.
The mission supports the following vision: To continue serving as a valuable community resource for promoting public health and wellness and to become recognized as the leader in developing a workforce of highly trained professionals who provide quality health education and promotion programs and services throughout the AASU MPH program service area.Objective
The objective of the Master of Public Health (MPH) degree is to provide the student with mastery of the appropriate theory, knowledge, and skills in areas of public/community health specific to the student's interest. The student will develop the ability to plan, implement, and evaluate specific programs which influence behavioral change conducive to good health.
Application Packet
All applicants must complete the School of Graduate Studies Application. More information and the online application can be found on the Graduate Admissions site.
A complete application packet for the Master of Public Health program includes the following:
Application- $30 non-refundable application fee
- Immunization form
- Two (2) Official Transcripts of all post-secondary education
- Letter of Intent
Two completed Reference Forms- Completed Work Experience Form
- Official GRE or MAT scores
700 GRE combined score (Verbal and Quantitative only) 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA)
Applicants holding a graduate degree do not need to submit GRE scores. MAT scores will be accepted in the place of GRE scores. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee acceptance into the program. The decision for acceptance is based upon GPA, GRE scores (or graduate GPA), work and volunteer history, recommendations and letter of intent.

The National Commission for Health Education Credentialing's voluntary certification program for health educators sets a national standard and assists employers in identifying qualified applicants. The exam is held twice a year and has a reduced fee for current students. For more information, see the NCHES website.
