Alfreda N. Allen, MHSA

Director of Customer Satisfaction
Gwinnett Hospital System

I graduated in May of 2005 with my MHSA. I worked as a Regional Service Manager for Press Ganey Associates, Inc., the largest provider of comparative patient satisfaction information, with my territory covering the states of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, and Tennessee for a little over a year. I am now Director of Customer Satisfaction with Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville Georgia.
Obtaining my degree through the MHSA program at AASU gave me an insight and knowledge to come into this field with a competitive advantage. The knowledge I gained through my practicum experience as well as the rigorous classroom work has made me a more competitive applicant for positions in the healthcare administration arena and a more confident applicant because I know that the people I gained my knowledge from are some of the best there are.

Berneta D. Kent, BS, MHSA
Clinical Research Assistant
Georgetown University

I am a Clinical Research Assistant at Georgetown University's Vincent T. Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center in Washington, DC. Currently I am assigned to the Hematology / Oncology Division where I work on cancer affecting the gastrointestinal tract. I serve as a liaison between the principle investigator, nurses, and clinical trial sponsors. I also ensure regulatory compliance as set forth by specified governing bodies of the trials. I meet with potential patients to assess their eligibility prior to beginning a study and report their progress during the study. The MHSA program has been very beneficial to my duties and the degree has afforded me the opportunity to enter the workforce at a salary higher than that of many of my colleagues.

Associate Director of Health Education

I am currently the Associate Director of Health Education with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control Public Health Region 2 and a Certified Health Education Specialist. I attended the MPH program from 1997-1999. My experiences afforded me great skills in community health assessment, planning and implementation. I also gained hands-on experience in grant writing and project planning (a skill most needed as a community health educator). I am currently seeking completion of my PhD in Public Health and because of the MPH program, I was thoroughly prepared. Words cannot express the gratitude that I have for the program!
